What is LCL?

Less than Container Load (LCL) means your cargo shares a container with shipments from other customers. We consolidate multiple smaller shipments into a single container at origin, then deconsolidate them again at destination before final delivery.

LCL is the natural choice when your shipment isn't large enough to justify booking an entire container. You pay only for the volume or weight you actually use, making it the most cost-effective way to ship smaller or irregular volumes from China.

Why choose LCL

  • Pay for what you use

No need to pay for unused container space — costs are based on your actual cargo volume or weight.

  • Lower entry point

Ship smaller quantities without committing to a full container — ideal for testing new products or markets.

  • Flexible frequency

Ship as often as you need, in whatever volume makes sense for your business at the time.

  • Consolidation expertise

We manage consolidation and deconsolidation at our facilities, including our logistics hub in Jebel Ali, Dubai.

How LCL shipping works

  • Cargo picked up from your supplier in China

  • Consolidated with other shipments at our warehouse

  • Export documentation prepared

  • Ocean transit to destination port

  • Deconsolidation and customs clearance

  • Final delivery to your address

Is LCL right for you?

Choose LCL if

  • Your shipment is under 15 CBM
  • You ship occasionally or in variable volumes
  • You're testing a new product or market
  • You want the lowest possible entry cost per shipment

Consider FCL instead if

  • Your shipment is around 15 CBM or more
  • You want to avoid extra consolidation/deconsolidation handling
  • Predictable transit time matters more than cost per unit

LCL questions

  • How is LCL priced?

LCL is typically priced per cubic meter (CBM) or by chargeable weight, whichever is greater, plus applicable handling and destination charges.

  • Is LCL slower than FCL?

Slightly. Because your cargo is consolidated with other shipments and deconsolidated again at destination, LCL transit times are usually a few days to a couple of weeks longer than FCL on the same route.

  • Is my cargo safe sharing a container with other shipments?

Yes. Cargo is properly packaged, separated and secured during consolidation, and we monitor handling at every stage from pickup to delivery.
