How the M-2 is used
A twenty-foot main-deck box built to the AGA code, and one of the highest-rated units in the ULD system.
At 11,340 kg and 33.7 m³ behind a solid door, it works like a small shipping container for the air. It shares that 11,340 kg ceiling with the M-6 and M-6H pallets, as a closed unit. The enclosure costs a tonne of empty weight, the highest of any general-purpose ULD.
Cargo it usually takes
How this family is arranged
- A twenty-foot main-deck box container.
- The door is solid.
- A heavier section than lower-deck equipment, sized to fill the main cargo deck of a freighter or Combi.
- The profile is rectangular or contoured at the top, depending on where on the deck the unit sits.
- The door is solid or canvas with net straps. The base rails match the main-deck restraint system.
Why operators pick it
- Gross weight and volume per unit are far higher than any belly ULD.
- It loads through the main cargo door in one lift, which is what makes a freighter turnaround fast.
- It suits dense or bulky shipments that would otherwise need several lower-deck units.
Settle these points before you book
- It loads only on freighters and Combi aircraft that have a main-deck cargo door.
- Some positions accept centre loading only, which limits where the unit can sit.
- Handling needs a main-deck loader, so not every station can take it.
